By Road

The roads from the Alberta border and Yellowknife are fully paved but, unlike highways in southern provinces, you will not find regular service stations with fast food, gas, and restrooms. Gas stations are few and far between after you leave High Level, Alberta so be sure to fill up your tank wherever possible and bring snacks and supplies for along the way.

Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre

The Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre of “The Museum” to locals is the Government of the Northwest Territories’ museum and archive. Exhibits include local flora and fauna, artefacts and information about the indigenous Yellowknives Dene people, and rotating exhibits of NWT artists.
